Why do we need to think about the outlying, rural communities that were affected? They are the backbone of the country. They are beyond the crumbling walls of Port au Prince!

Chicago lost Bid despite Obama, Michelle and Oprah's Best Efforts; Rio De Janeiro Got the Bid

Chicago's bid did not make it. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, got the winning bid. Obviously, Spain, Tokyo and Chicago fought a good fight. They sent in their best representative.
As reported by those on the scene.
A huge roar was heard at the famed beach the moment IOC President Jacques Rogge said the words "Rio de Janeiro" to announce the winner.

"I'm very happy because this will help sports and give a boost to kids of all ages and social classes," said Copacabana travel agent Ana Lucia Perez da Costa.

The Cariocas, as Rio citizens are known, raised their arms to celebrate on Copacabana, frantically waving flags and hugging each other.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's Big Daddy's Move Did Not Shake Michelle Obama Who Offered Handshake Instead of Kiss on the Cheeck

No Kiss for You, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi! You are a bad boy who needs to face a powerful, tall woman! He got a lesson in being a cad! Michelle made all women proud during g20 Summit in Pittsburg! President Obama was not too happy with his gesture. Respect another man's wife, Silvio!

Why does he always put his foot in his mouth? Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi continues to make mistakes. He continues to commit gaffes.

Berlusconi told a Milan rally of conservative supporters on Sunday that he was bringing greetings from the United States from "What's his name? Some tanned guy. Ah, Barack Obama!"

Shortly after Obama's election in November 2008, Berlusconi raised eyebrows by saying the victor was "young, handsome, and even has a good tan."

This time, Berlusconi, a billionaire media mogul who began his career as a cruise ship entertainer, also took a jab at the First Lady.

"You won't believe it," he said, "but two of them went to the beach because the wife is also tanned."

Berlusconi is known for his gaffes. Most people know that he likes to see an attractive woman. It seems that he is not held up to the same standards as other people.

One may wonder whether Michelle, knowing his sexual scandal stories, found him creepy. Many European publishers show him looking at Michelle's dress instead of her face. He was waiting for her to come greet him or kiss him. Michelle refused and only gave him a handshake.

Good for you, Michelle! President knew he was dealing with a foxy Silvio Berlusconi. So he made it a point of standing right there with his wife to keep the encounter pleasant. No matter how much money a man has, he needs to respect women, specially another powerful man's wife! Keep your come on to big daddy moves to yourself, little man, Silvio!

President Obama and his Wife Michele Obama, Oprah Winfrey Put Their Best Foot Forward in Olympic Bids

Chicago is using all its guns in the fight to get the 2016 olympic games. Besides sending letters to the Olympic committee, the President is ready to visit Denmark to give his pitch for the games to take place in Chicago. The competition is becoming very tough with Japan sending its king. Brasil's president will be there. Spain's king will also be there to fight to get the games. It makes sense that President Obama and his wife accompany the American delegation. Even Oprah Winfrey, a favorite daughter of Chicago, will be part of the delegation to Copenhagen.

The International Olympic Committee is meeting in Copenhagen to select a host city for the 2016 Summer Games. Chicago faces tough competition from Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo. The president promised, a "spectacular Olympic experience for one and all."

"President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama symbolize the hope, opportunity and inspiration that makes Chicago great, and we are honored to have two of our city's most accomplished residents leading our delegation in Copenhagen," Mayor Richard M. Daley said in a statement. "Who better to share with members of the International Olympic Committee the commitment and enthusiasm Chicago has for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement than the President and First Lady."

Michael Johnson and Jackie Joyner-Kersee will also be part of the delegation.

Let us hope the IOC accepts the Chicago's bid!

President Obama's "Chicago Snow vs. Washington Snow"

The president said that Chicago knows how to deal with snow better than Washington does. Malia and Sasha complain that in Chicago they would go to school no matter what the snow drops were. They are surprised that they have to stay at home, at the White House instead of being at school on a snowy day.

The obama girls are as tough as their mommy and daddy! Way to go, girls! What is interesting about their observation is that even under the worst snow conditions they would go out to play!

Paying Tribute to Jennifer Hudson's Slain Mother, Darnell Hudson, Brother and Julian King's Memorial

Actress Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found slain in Donerson's home in the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue on Chicago's South Side, said Lisa Kasteler, Jennifer Hudson's publicist. Police say a boy, Julian King, 7, is missing from the home, but have not said whether the boy was related to Hudson.

Lynnette and John Louden talk to reporters about how their chihuahua, "Lil' Man" led them to the SUV parked in their Chicago neighborhood this morning. A child's body was found in the vehicle in the 1300 block of South Kolin Avenue around 8 a.m. It is the same vehicle police were looking for in their search for 7-year-old Julian King, the missing nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

Who Will Have Control of Chicago2016.com? Frayne Sandusky, A Graduate Student or the Chicago Olympic Bid Committee

"As Chicago wages its battle to host the 2016 Olympics, it also finds itself scrapping over a valuable piece of cyberspace: the domain name of Chicago2016.com. The bid team along with the U.S. Olympic Committee are trying to wrest that online address from Stephen Frayne Jr., a 29-year-old MBA student. Frayne snagged it back in 2004, about two years before the bid was launched. ... 'We certainly see Chicago2016.com as the logical default domain for our site, and we believe having someone else control it is misleading for people seeking information about Chicago's bid,' said Patrick Sandusky, a spokesman for Chicago 2016, a moniker protected by trademark."

Frayne said he is not interested in selling his sites wwww.chicago2016.com or Tokyo2016.com.

Frayne's goal, his lawsuit states, is to foster public debate on whether the Olympic bid is the best use of officials' time, taxpayers' money and local citizens' money, and about how the Olympics would impact the city. His site carries prominent disclaimers that it is not the official Chicago 2016 site, and it includes links to the official site.
